2-Hour Asbestos Awareness Class
This course is designed for employees who work in buildings that may contain asbestos. It aims to raise awareness about the potential hazards of asbestos and ensure that participants understand the risks associated with working in such environments. Typical attendees include groundskeepers, housekeepers, office staff, and outside contractors. This class must be completed annually to ensure ongoing awareness and safety.
16-Hour Asbestos Operations and Maintenance Class
This comprehensive training provides participants with the skills needed to safely perform work on asbestos-containing materials (up to 3 square feet) while minimizing asbestos exposure and fiber release. It is intended for maintenance personnel and those involved in demolition or repair work on asbestos-containing materials. This course is a one-time certification, with an 8-hour refresher required annually to maintain certification and ensure up-to-date knowledge and compliance.
Unfortunately, there is no specific date for when buildings contain asbestos. However, if a property is newer and the owner can provide evidence to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment that no asbestos-containing materials were used, the building may be considered exempt. All other buildings must conduct asbestos testing or assume that asbestos is present.
