AASC Membership Code of Conduct
All AASC members must review and complete the organization’s Code of Conduct. This document must be submitted as part of the membership application.
Purpose
We, the members of the Apartment Association of Southern Colorado, recognize our duty to the public and to those individuals who choose to reside in rental housing. Being ever mindful of the increasing role of the rental housing industry in providing homes, we have united ourselves for the purpose of improving the services and conditions of the rental housing industry.
Therefore, we adopt this Code of Conduct as our guide in dealing with all people.
Owner / Manager / Community
Members agree to the following principles:
- Conduct themselves in an honest and ethical manner at all times to better the communities of which they are a part.
- Comply with all laws, regulations, and building codes applicable to the rental housing industry.
- Adhere to all fair housing principles.
- Respect the rights and responsibilities of residents and diligently respond to their requests.
- Strive to conserve natural resources and preserve the environment.
- Recognize the value of contracts and their enforcement.
- Support the importance of continuing education for rental housing owners, managers, and residents.
- Maintain an equitable and cooperative relationship among members of the association and others within the industry to further the interests of the association.
Vendor
Vendors agree to the following principles:
- Conduct business transactions in a straightforward and honest manner.
- Recognize the value of contracts and their enforcement.
- Conduct business with full knowledge of and compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Respect the integrity of business relationships between members and conduct business with fairness and competitive integrity.
- Respect the right of colleagues to independently determine the value of products and services.
- Not engage in behavior that restrains trade.
- Treat customers, competitors, and vendors with respect and integrity.
- Fulfill business commitments in a complete, timely, and high quality manner.
- Encourage personnel to be actively involved in association and community activities and conduct themselves appropriately at such functions.
- Actively promote business through AASC advertising, sponsorship, and relationship building opportunities.
Enforcement
The Apartment Association of Southern Colorado reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership for any member who knowingly and repeatedly violates this Code of Conduct and fails to promptly and properly correct those violations.
Members acknowledge that they have read the Code of Conduct and agree to abide by it, including any successor codes and the Constitution and By-Laws of the Apartment Association of Southern Colorado, for as long as their firm remains a member of the association.
