Advocacy

The Apartment Association of Southern Colorado (AASC) serves as a trusted voice for the rental housing industry across our region. Through proactive advocacy, education, and collaboration, we work to ensure policies affecting rental housing are balanced, practical, and informed by real-world operations.

We engage with local and state decision-makers, partner with aligned organizations, and keep our members informed so they can navigate change with confidence and remain compliant in an evolving regulatory environment.

The 2026 legislative session begins on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

  • Local business and community organizations, including the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC, Pikes Peak Housing Network (PPHN), Housing & Building Association (HBA)

National Advocacy & Member Engagement

AASC works closely with the National Apartment Association (NAA) to ensure the voices of Southern Colorado rental housing professionals are represented at the federal level. Through this partnership, AASC stays connected to national legislative and regulatory developments and helps translate federal policy into practical guidance for our members.

Opportunities to Engage Through NAA

AASC members have access to several meaningful ways to participate in national advocacy efforts:

  • Legislative Calls & Briefings:
Members may participate in NAA-hosted legislative calls and briefings that provide timely updates on federal policy proposals, regulatory trends, and advocacy priorities affecting the rental housing industry nationwide.

  • Advocacy Campaigns & Calls to Action:
When appropriate, members may be invited to engage in coordinated outreach efforts that help policymakers understand the real-world impact of proposed federal legislation.

  • Political Action Committee (PAC) Participation:
Members who wish to further support advocacy efforts may choose to participate in political action committees at both the national and local levels. These efforts help advance industry-supported candidates and policies while remaining entirely voluntary.

AASC’s Role

AASC serves as a connector—sharing relevant NAA updates, promoting engagement opportunities, and helping members understand how national issues intersect with state and local policy. Participation in national advocacy efforts is always optional and designed to complement AASC’s ongoing work at the local and state levels.
